New Year 2017 Wishes Over The Years

As the clock will strike midnight on the 31st of December, 2016, the night sky will be colored with fireworks and the air will be rent with shouts of “Happy New Year 2017”. This is, as we know, a kind of ritual followed by people all over the globe. The New Year brings with it hopes of a better future and an opportunity to learn from the prior year and make positive changes in one’s life.

New Year’s Day, which is the first day of January in the Gregorian calendar, is a restricted holiday in India. People can take a limited number of restricted holidays but government offices and most firms remain open and public transport also remains available. This system permits the working class people the flexibility to take time off to celebrate a holiday within India's vast religiously and culturally diverse society.

Many people celebrate New Year’s in the company of near and dear ones, involving traditions meant to bring luck and success in the upcoming year. Also, most people are known to report late to work on this festive occasion due to the late night celebrations. The origin of these traditions, which are now followed all over the world, is not verified, but some of them seem to come from superstitions. For example, in western countries, typically the customs and traditions of Happy New Year’s Day involve celebrations with champagne and a variety of different foods, especially including circle-shaped foods, which symbolize cycles.

While celebrations vary from country to country, common traditions practiced nowadays include exchanging Happy New Year cards over the social networking sites, making resolutions and gathering of loved ones, most commonly in family homes. Making resolutions or goals to improve one’s life has become a common practice for people on this day.

Common resolutions nowadays concern diet, exercise, giving up bad habits, and other matters concerning personal wellness. The common view is to think of the first day of the year as a clean slate to improve one’s life and begin it with Happy New Year Greetings to bring luck and success in the upcoming year.

However, most of the people don’t put stock in the superstitions that gave birth to these customs while enjoying them in good old holiday spirit. The result is that New Year's Day is probably the most celebrated public holiday, often observed with fireworks at the stroke of twelve as the New Year commences in each time zone.

During this time, you’ll typically find champagne, feasting, confetti, noise makers, and other methods of merriment including, but not restricted to, fireworks, parades, concerts, etc. Famous parades around the world include London’s New Year’s Day Parade and the Rose Parade in Pasadena, California.

In India, most urban cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata and Chennai organize live concerts and shows which are often attended by Bollywood stars and other renowned celebrities.
Large crowds gather to attend such shows, while others prefer to celebrate with their close friends and family members. These shows also provide a huge scope of profit for the event management business and the organizers and sponsors of such events as people enthusiastically buy passes for them. The others prefer to watch the live telecast on their televisions and this too provides a great market for the broadcasting companies. There are difficulties associated with such shows too. The security is often tightened in these prime cities as incidents of fights, mole station and other crimes have been rising the last few years.

The arrival of foreign tourists is also at its peak during New Year’s Day on January 1st, especially in locations which are known to be a favorite tourist destination with respect to Christian religious activities, such as Goa. This helps with the economy as well.

The New Year 2017 Wishes have already started streaming in along with the Christmas greetings. In conclusion, wishes for a Happy New Year are always accompanied with goodwill and positive thoughts for the prosperity of individuals, groups, societies, states, nations and the whole world.
